Greenville weddings tend to go one of two ways. The downtown wedding uses Main Street, Falls Park, and the Reedy River as a built-in backdrop, with hotels and restaurants in walking distance, so the day feels like a city weekend. The other is the close-in countryside wedding: a venue a short drive outside downtown with grounds, parking, and a slower pace. Both put you close to downtown hotels for out-of-town guests.

Season & light

Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons in Greenville. The light is soft, the humidity is manageable, and outdoor portraits are pleasant. July and August are doable with a covered or indoor ceremony and a later start. Winter weddings downtown can look great because historic interiors carry the day on their own. Just plan for a shorter portrait window before sunset.

The Westin Poinsett

The Westin Poinsett opened on Main Street in 1925 and is still downtown Greenville's grand historic hotel. It hosts weddings for up to 400 guests in its Poinsett Ballroom, with about 9,700 square feet of event space spread across eight rooms. Catering is in-house, and guest room blocks are available, so the ceremony, reception, and the out-of-town family can all stay under one roof. It's a natural pick for couples who want a classic hotel wedding without leaving downtown.

The Huguenot Mill

The Huguenot Mill was built in 1882 as a textile mill and is now part of the Peace Center campus in downtown Greenville, overlooking the Reedy River. Its main wedding space is the Huguenot Loft, which the Peace Center lists at 300 seated or 400 standing. Smaller rooms in the building include the Ramsaur Studio (60 seated, 150 standing). There's an on-site prep area for catered food, and Falls Park is a short walk away.

The Hollow at Paris Mountain

The Hollow at Paris Mountain sits on 30 acres in the foothills of Paris Mountain, about 10 minutes from downtown Greenville. The owners built it in 2013 for their daughter's wedding, then opened it to other couples. The grounds include a 35-by-45-foot covered cedar pavilion, a flagstone patio, and water features, plus an indoor den and bar area and two dressing rooms. The venue lists capacity at about 200 guests, and rentals are venue-only, so you bring your own vendors.
